How to create a spray record for Headland Applications

This article demonstrates an example Headland Herbicide application in the GrowData Ops Spray Diary

Before you get started!
To capture activities on non-production areas such as Headlands, you will firstly need to set up a Block for this. Create a Crop & Variety type 'Headlands' , then create a Block called 'Headlands' with the approximate hectares for that area. If you don't know the hectares, that is OK especially where Spot Sprays don't take this into account anyhow, so if this is the case simply set it up as 1ha. (A quick way to do this is within the Block setup, select a Row/Tree Spacing from the list and on that droptown you'll see the 'Trees' per ha. Enter that number of trees into 'Total Number of Trees' field to give you a Hectares calculation of 1.

1. Go to Enter Data > Spray Diary

2. In the top left hand corner of the record, ensure the Activity type says 'Herbicides'.

This will change the machines available to select to Herbicide only machines. This information is stipulated in the machine setup. See related article: Machinery Setup

3. Select your Machine, Supervisor, Operator and Gear/RPM from the relevant dropdown lists

4. Select Chemicals Used, and change Rate and Rate Type as required.

Note: Qty per Full Vat will not yet be calculated if Rate Type = Per Ha

5. Click on Select Blocks, and a popup window will appear.

6. Within this window, highlight the blocks being sprayed

Either hold down your shift or ctrl key and click to select the relevant blocks

7. Check the Spray Width Per Row is correct

8. Enter the Litres/Ha for the job, OR the total Vats required for the job.

7. Click 'Apply Spray to Blocks'.

Now you will see under the block details, the Total Ha and Total Vats (as well as L per Ha) will have been calculated.

'Total HA' is the total sprayed HA's not the total HA's of the blocks.

8. Add any required comments.

Tick box 'print comments on instruction sheet?' if relevant, otherwise these comments will only flow through to Spray Diary Report.

9. Click Preview Instruction Sheet to review. Print if spray needs to be completed and give to your operator.

Alternatively, if spray has already happened, enter in weather conditions, batch and target details, start and finish time, ensure the total ha/vats are correct and mark the job as complete.
