Spray App FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions about the GrowData Spray App (Also known as Mobile Instructions App)

What's is this app used for?
Send Operators spray task instructions via this app. Operators then record the details of the task, such as chemical batches, weather, start/finish times and safety information. This app replaces the need for paper spray records.

Which devices is the app compatible with?

This app is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

Note: It can be used on smartphones and tablets

Does the app work offline?

Yes! As long as the operator receives the task whilst in service, they can complete the task offline. Details will be uploaded to the cloud once they come back into range.

Note: If the Supervisor changes or deletes the job in the GrowData back office, the Operator won’t receive this update when they’re out of range.

Can the operator edit their task once completed on the app?

No, not after it’s been completed. In the app, a task can be saved (green tick) and will still be editable to the Operator. Once the operator selects “Complete” (found on the Reports tab of the task), that task will be locked and can no longer be edited or viewed by the Operator.

Note: The only way to unlock a task on the app again is to return to the Orchard program and change the task back to ‘Planned’. This will completely re-set the task on the app, thus wiping all information previously entered on the app by the Operator. If changes are required to what the operator had entered on the app, it would be recommended to simply continue through the Supervisor approval process then adjust the spray record in the Orchard program (before changing the Orchard program status to ‘Completed’).

Will only the assigned operator receive the job on their device/app?

The assigned Operator and Supervisor will see the job on their devices.

Is the web interface approval step necessary?

At this stage yes, however we may be able to eliminate this step in future to further streamline the process.

Is it only Spray jobs that can be completed on the app?

Yes, at this stage spray jobs only. Fertigation and Irrigation can still utilize the printed .pdf Instruction Sheets.

Can you make changes to the job after it’s been sent to the app?

Yes, however it’s recommended to avoid this where possible. Any changes made in the Orchard program first require the task to be recalled (status set from ‘Scheduled’ to ‘Planned’). This action completely removes the task - and any saved edits made to that task - on the app. After updating the task in the Orchard program, the status needs to be changed to Scheduled again to re-issue the instructions.

Can you delete a job after it’s been sent to the app?

Yes, however this can only be done once the task has been set back to ‘Planned’ in the Orchard program. This will completely remove the task from the device and Supervisor page.

This is an important step to follow to ensure unwanted tasks aren’t left on user devices. If only deleted on the approval web page, the Operator will still see the job on their app.

What do the icons in the approval web page mean?

The job has been Scheduled in GrowData Orchard Program and sent to the mobile app.

The job has been completed on the mobile app and awaiting Review on the web page.

The job has been approved in the web page and Completed in GrowData Orchard Program.

What do the icons on the app mean?

Orange cloud symbol = the job has been saved on the mobile app, but not yet completed

Green cloud = the job has been completed on the mobile app, and information is synching to the approval web page

Note, the cloud will disappear once data has synched to the web page.
Troubleshooting note: if the cloud remains on the app, the data has not yet been synced. This could be due to someone being in that record inside the Orchard program

Blue lock = the job has already been submitted from the handheld device and is awaiting approval. E.g:

When will the job drop off the app?

When the job has been approved and completed

Can you schedule jobs for particular days?

No, there is no date assigned to the job at point of scheduling. Therefore, suggested best practice would be to release (aka change status to ‘scheduled’) reasonably close to when you want the Operator to complete the job.

Can I communicate any extra instructions to the operator?

Yes, the comments field pulls through to the app and is the perfect place to put extra information such as additional safety or mix instructions

Are SDS sheets or chemical labels available to be viewed on the app?

Not at this stage.
