Frequently Asked Questions on Stock Receivals, barcodes and picker stickers
How do I create Picker Barcodes, and generate the stickers in GrowData?
Each individual picker will need a barcode, so that when a box is scanned it knows who picked it.
A pickers barcode number can change on a daily basis and the system will still know which picker it's associated with. How to create barcodes can be found in 1.10 Employees & Pickers Setup
How to generate the stickers can be found in Stock Receivals & Scanning Workflow
What barcode printing software do I need?
Barcode printing software is not part of the GrowData package and is something you'll need to have on your label printer. Many of our clients use BarTender.
How should I number my picker stickers?
The combination of a SUFFIX auto number (created by the barcode template software - ie bartender) and picker barcode creates a unique number for EVERY barcode sticker regardless of the employee number. You can use your own combination (e.g. 7-2, where the picker code would be 7 characters) however you need a hyphen after the number of picker characters 1234567-12 to check for unique codes combinations. If you don't put a hyphen in, duplicate scans can occur.
Example below:
With the example above, the Settings to scan these barcodes in Stock Receivals will be:
Picker Only - Number of barcode digits 6-3
What's the range/distance I can be away from my laptop when scanning?
This will depend on the capabilities of your handheld scanner and the environment you're scanning in. Usually you can be about 10metres away from your laptop and Bluetooth scanners will work, but it would be best to check your Scanner hardware guide for specifics, and do some test scanning.
What if my shed has poor internet connection?
It's paramount that your laptop (with Stock Receivals program installed) has access to stable internet. If your shed has poor connectivity, you may need to look at purchasing a dongle or alternative internet source. The Stock Receivals program won't work if you're not connected to the internet.
What if I've accidentally scanned boxes into the wrong block?
Usually this is something that needs to be rectified at the end of the day in the GrowData program (this is where your scan records from the Stock Receivals program will end up).
This video explains how to adjust records scanned into the wrong block:
