Suggested workflow for when it is only necessary to collect basic picking information in the Harvest App, and Picker/Bin traceability is not required
The GrowData Harvest app is designed to be flexible and accommodate your processes on the ground. To get full value from it, we suggest checking out the general Daily Guide For Using the GrowData Harvest App. However, if this is too complex or not suitable for your operations, the simplified options below may work better for you.
If you wish to use the options below, please reach out to our Grower Success team so that we can adjust the app settings for you behind the scenes. We are also here to help if you have any other questions on how we can support your Harvest processes.

(Internal note: Bin and Card options must be toggled off in Harvest Admin)
SIMPLIFIED WORKFLOW 1:
✔ Records number of bins off a block
✔ Records Picker hours
✔ Records bins to picking Teams (and apportions bins picked to individuals within those teams)
✖ Does NOT record bin traceability (and therefore doesn't require bin barcodes or bin numbers)
✖ This example does not use picker stickers or picker barcodes (however these can be incorporated if desired)
Video Explanation:
*The video example above uses an iOS device. The app may differ slightly on Android devices.
Step by step instructions:
- Log in to the Harvest app
- Select the Properties and Blocks being picked today:
- Select the picking Crew for today (regardless of which blocks they are on, as we are simply saying we want to clock them in); Select Apply. Select More, ‘sign all in’. You can adjust time back if needed.
- Create a picking 'Team' to easily allocate to Harvest Records
This step is recommended, and is demonstrated in the example video above.
If you sign in pickers but do not allocate them to harvest records (with associated blocks), the program won't know which block they were working on, so their time will be allocated to a 'default block' in Growdata. For this reason, we recommend completing this extra step and create a picking Team. This will mean you can simply select that 'Team' of pickers in any Harvest Records for the day, and the program will therefore know which block they were working on to allocate their time to. It’s one additional step at the beginning of the day, but will give you better insights and picking stats!
To do this, go to Teams > New > Select todays’ picking crew in here again.
Notes:
- If you have pickers from multiple contractors, you'll need to create a Team for each contractor. This is because you can’t assign a harvest record to a Team with pickers from multiple contractors.
- If you complete this recommended step, you’ll notice once you’ve signed in the Team, that the Team name appears beneath the names of the individual pickers. - Create a Harvest Record for each Bin Picked.
- The record will default to the current date and time, adjust if required
- Ensure the bin type is correct
- Ensure the correct $ per bin is selected (this is the cost to pick that bin)
- The app will assume it is a full bin, but if not, slide % filled to represent the correct amount
- Ensure the relevant block is selected
- Select Picker > choose any Picker that’s part of the relevant Team (you'll see the Team name is in small text underneath the individual names), and all Team members will be assigned to the Harvest record
- If required, you can remove individual Pickers from the Harvest record by sliding to the left on their name and hitting remove (on Android, long hold and hit remove)
- Once all details are correct, select ‘Done’
Repeat step 5 for each bin picked.
Notes:
- 1 Harvest Record = 1 Bin. Each time a bin is picked, you'll need to create a record to get an accurate bin count at the end of the day (you cannot simply enter 60 bins off that block within one record)
- Once a record is created, this will show on the Summary page. You can click into Harvest Records via this screen, and edit them if required. You can also delete harvest records from the list (slide to left for iOS/or long hold for Android).
- Your Harvest record will also be incorporated into the stats on the Reports page, at the bottom of the screen you’ll see ‘Bins Total by Block’. You can change the date to view Harvest stats from previous days
6. At the end of the day, check all records on the Summary screen are green
It's important to ensure your records have been marked green, indicating that they have successfully synched with the GrowData program. Your device must be connected to internet (either wifi or mobile data) to sync data to the cloud/GrowData program.
7. Sign your pickers out.
Go to Crew > More > Sign all out (if required, adjust to the correct time)
